How dependencies on other drawings or vendor requests set Blocked automatically — and how the chain unblocks when upstream work finishes.
Intent: Explain why a drawing is blocked in a way that a new team member can follow without prior Beech context.
Who this helps: Architecture studio admins, managers, and contributors who need a repeatable operational workflow.
Blocked is not a mood. Beech sets it when something upstream is unfinished — another drawing, or a vendor request that has not been delivered. Open the drawing to see what it is waiting on.
What Beech does
- Marks the drawing Blocked and moves the linked task to the Blocked column.
- Shows it on Home and the project Work tab.
- Shows downstream impact, such as how many drawings it is holding up.
When it clears
When the upstream drawing reaches Approved, or the vendor request reaches Delivered, Beech unblocks the downstream drawing, moves the task back to In Progress, and notifies the assignee. Chains can be several hops long — a construction sheet waiting on structure waiting on a consultant will clear in sequence.
Prerequisites
- Confirm you can access the project and the page referenced in this workflow.
- Collect any drawing references, due dates, and ownership details before you start.
Expected outcome
By the end of this workflow, your team has one visible, repeatable process and cleaner handovers.
Common mistakes and prevention
Mistake 1: Skipping context fields (owner, due date, status notes), which makes follow-up harder.
Mistake 2: Treating chat updates as source of truth instead of recording the update in Beech.
Troubleshooting checklist
- 1Troubleshooting step 1
If a control is missing, verify your role has permission for the action.
- 2Troubleshooting step 2
If results look wrong, check filters and refresh to confirm latest synced data.
