Firm board

Beech user guide for architecture studios.

Collaboration

Last updated: 26 Oct 2026

Firm board is the studio noticeboard: announcements, lunches, and birthdays. Everyone can read it; Admins and Managers post. Pinned and recent posts also appear on Home.

Where the board lives

  • More → Firm board (/announcements) — the full live list, pins, and Archive.
  • Firm settings → Firm board — the same posting tools from settings.
  • Home — a card of pinned and recent posts so people see them when they log in.

Post types

TypeWhat to include
AnnouncementTitle, optional body, optional pin (max 2 pinned at once), and optional expiry date.
LunchA calendar date (and optional details) for a team lunch or similar social.
BirthdayA calendar date for a team member’s birthday.

Pins, expiry, and Archive

Pin at most two announcements so Home stays scannable. When an announcement’s expiry date passes, it moves to Archive on the board page — it is no longer live. Open a post to mark it read; unread counts appear in the Firm board subtitle.

Who can post

  • Admins and Managers — create, edit, pin, and delete posts.
  • Contributors — read the board and the Home card. They cannot post.
Use Messages for a conversation. Use Firm board when the whole studio should see a dated notice without a reply thread.

Before you start

  • You can open More → Firm board (/announcements). Everyone can read; Admins and Managers can post.
  • You know whether the post is an announcement (optional pin and expiry) or a dated lunch or birthday.

Workflow checks and quality guardrails

  • Checklist item 1: Pin at most two announcements so Home stays scannable, and set an expiry so stale posts move to Archive.

  • Checklist item 2: Use lunch and birthday items for dated social events; they need a calendar date, not just a title.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Pinning every announcement. Only two pins are allowed at once.
  • Leaving expired announcements on the live board — they belong in Archive after the expiry date.

Troubleshooting

  1. 1
    Troubleshooting step 1

If you cannot post, you are a Contributor — ask a Manager or Admin, or use Messages for a team thread.

  2. 2
    Troubleshooting step 2

If a post is missing from Home, confirm it is not archived and that it is pinned or recent enough to appear on the card.
